Ghana Medical Relief (GMR) is a registered 501C (3)non-profit humanitarian organization in the United States of America. Each year GMR ships donated Medical supplies and equipment to Ghana, West Africa for medical missions. GMR is made up of healthcare and non-healthcare volunteers with a common goal of delivering better healthcare to the people of Ghana in the form of general medicine, pediatric, dental, urology, obstetrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT, and health education ( Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training, Stroke, Hypertension and Diabetes.) Although the main goal is to provide healthcare to deprived villages in Ghana, GMR has donated needed supplies and equipment to Centre County residents in the past by placing them in our front yard to be picked up as freebies. GMR strives to ensure that these equipment and supplies reach the right people in the community. I once asked a gentleman who was loading a trailer with our free medical supplies and equipment what he was going to do with them and his answer was “ sell them” Monies raised through Centre Gives will be used to rent storage spaces, buy storage organizers, boxes, shelves etc to effectively organize, manage and distribute the equipment and supplies. Monies will also be used to rent moving trucks to transport the medical supplies and equipment from our donation sites ( ie hospitals, clinics etc) to the storage area. GMR will organize free workshops to educate the community about Stroke Awareness, Hypertension and Diabetes Prevention and do free of charge CPR training using our highly skilled and Certified volunteers (living in Centre County)
