What is Centre Gives?
Centre Gives is a unique, online giving event designed to encourage community giving and to support the great work of Centre County nonprofits during 36 hours – starting at 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 and ending at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
This exciting community giving event is hosted by Centre Foundation and supported by our community impact funds and partnerships with local businesses.
Why does Centre Foundation host Centre Gives?
In 2012, Centre Foundation established Centre Gives to promote and support Centre County's many nonprofit organizations. Since its inception, over $6.8 million has been invested into our community through Centre Gives, benefitting over 165 local organizations.

Why should I donate through Centre Gives rather than directly to my favorite nonprofit?
Your donations through Centre Gives not only qualify your favorite organization for a larger share of the $100,000 stretch pool, but also help organizations qualify for additional prize money. Although there is a 5% participation fee for organizations, which includes the credit card processing fee, the pro-rated stretch pool has historically exceeded that percentage.
What forms of donations are accepted?
All online donations must be made via credit or debit card. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Cash or check donations are not accepted. Donations are tax deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded) and will be for the use of your chosen charity.
Anyone who holds a Donor-Advised Fund at Centre Foundation may recommend distributions to participating organizations prior to the event. These grant distributions will qualify for the stretch pool through Centre Gives.
Centre Foundation will also accept Qualified Mandatory Distributions (QMD) from IRA's prior to the event. Please contact our office at (814) 237-6229 for more information.
What is the minimum donation?
The minimum donation is $25.00.
What is the maximum donation?
There is no maximum donation amount; however, only the first $10,000 of a donation will be eligible for the $100,000 stretch pool. Multiple $10,000 gifts to different organizations are accepted; the initial $10,000 gift to each organization will qualify for the stretch pool.
Will my donation be tax-deductible and how do I get my receipt?
Yes, donations are tax deductible! Your receipt contains tax-deductible information to save for your files.
Receipts are automatically e-mailed to the e-mail address provided during the donation process. If you do not receive it, you can scroll to the very bottom of this page, click Lost Receipt, and request for it to be resent. You can also check your junk folder for e-mails from “CentreGives@Centre-Foundation.org.” If no receipt is found after taking these steps, please call Centre Foundation’s office at (814) 237-6229 and our staff will be happy to assist you.
How will my donations show up on my credit card statement?
“Centre Gives, LLC” will appear on your credit card statement. However, rest assured that your donation(s) will be designated to the appropriate organization(s).

Can organizations encourage donations by giving away prizes or free gifts?
Unfortunately not. All donations made during Centre Gives must be 100% tax deductible. Organizations may not offer gifts, memberships in excess of $75 (per IRS Membership Benefits Exception), raffle tickets or lottery tickets as a benefit in exchange for donations made during the event.
What constitutes a unique donor for prizes calculations?
Unique donors are determined by an algorithm that considers many data points, including first and last name, credit card number, and address. So it may happen that two donors have the same name, but the system will know them as unique donors because they have different addresses or credit card numbers. Or a wife and husband may use the same credit card or address to donate, but they will be considered unique donors because their names are different.
When will prize recipients be announced?
Final prize distributions may differ from leaderboard results, as all gifts are subject to verification. Centre Foundation will strive to confirm and announce all prize recipients within three business days.
Is donating through CentreGives.org safe?
Yes. Centre Foundation has partnered with Contributary and Stripe to provide a secure online donation form. All donations made using Stripe’s donation forms use industry-leading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donors.
How will my information be used?
Donors participating in Centre Gives will have their name, email, billing address, phone number, and contribution amount shared with the nonprofit organization to which the contribution will be credited. If you choose to give anonymously, this information will not be shared with the organization designated for your gift. Centre Foundation does not retain credit card information, and your personal data will not be shared with or sold to any outside vendor or third party, except to provide the services you requested.
We use personal information that we collect to provide you services or event registrations that you requested, to send you email confirmations and/or tax receipts for your online transactions, to notify you about Centre Foundation events or special giving opportunities, to provide you with news and updates, to comply with legal requirements and other information related to the mission of Centre Foundation. Donor names may be recognized in the annual report or other forms of public recognition, unless you designate your gift as anonymous.
Centre Foundation may disclose your personal information to comply with any court order, law or legal process, including a response to any government or regulatory request. If a request for personal information is made, the Foundation will notify the individual prior to the release to allow the individual to respond to the agency. If you wish to opt-out or unsubscribe from any Centre Foundation services or communications, please contact our office.
Can participating organizations be disqualified?
Centre Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any organization from participating in the event and/or receiving stretch pool dollars or prizes at any time before, during, or after the event, if, in its sole discretion, it believes that there has been a breach of rules and/ or deception on the part of the organization.
